This one probably needs contemplation more than explanation.
Take a moment to look – really look – at this marvelous work of nature, and see all the elements:
The reds, oranges, and yellows are lit up to a fiery radiance by the morning sun
The sun itself is 93 million miles away from the tree yet seems to be seamlessly incorporated into the very artistry of this scene
Whether from the lens or the configuration of leaves, the sun’s rays pierce the center of the scene and spread out in a perfect burst of light over the radiant foliage
The tree is set against the backdrop of a perfectly blue sky with wisps of white clouds floating unobtrusively in the distance like bits of cotton candy
The spindly branches of the tree are thin brown lines running through the scene, giving it structure
There is green foliage behind (and a purple crepe myrtle peeking into the scene on the right, if you look closely)
Underneath is a foundation of brown earth and mulch that form the tree’s bed
The lone tree is actually a twin – two trunks!
Notice also that the human element in this scene is limited to a wooden and concrete platform that frames the lovely tree and seems to be built around it to preserve its beauty.
If you dwell long enough on this scene, you may even begin to smell the fall leaves and feel the onset of a certain chill in the air.
Who ever thought that one could find so much wonder in a single tree!
