Babies are cute in any package

Beauty: Especially baby hippos that stick out their tongues for the camera.

I don’t know about you, but babies (of any species) are God’s way of reminding us of the blessing of life that He gives to all creation.

In the Genesis creation story, He began His creative work by bringing forth Light (1st day) and then creating the heavens and the earth (day 2).

Then He began to create life in earnest: the plants (day 3); the sun and moon to nurture life (day 4); the fish and birds (day 5), and finally the animals (day 6).

On the same day He created man as the culmination of creation. (Actually, woman was the absolute culmination of the process, the icing on the cake of creation so to speak!)

And He gave them all this charge: “Be fruitful and multiply!” (Genesis 1:22, 28)

Babies remind us that all of nature participates in the divine plan of sharing His life with the world.

…And sometimes they just remind us not to take ourselves too seriously.
