Thank you Deacon! Yes, Twain adored Joan and please send as many pictures of dogs as you wish! My secret theory about Joan of Arc actually involves dogs. Prior to her arrival, the English were bringing their Mastiffs to the battlefield while the French were bringing their poodles. Joan was like, "No wonder they haven't won a battle in a hundred years. What were they thinking? Does a woman have to fix everything around here?!" Once she ordered the poodles off the battlefield, the war went much better for them haha!
Thank you for reminding us of the beauty of God's animal creation.
My first name, Frances, my baptismal name, assigned to me at birth, but by which I do not go, was for Saint Francis of Assisi because I was born on October 4, his feast day.
Here is a photo of Boomer (really a Gen Z) shelter adoptee that has some of that wonderful dachshund lineage.
Cute! Now I want to send you pictures of mine! A priest at church said he knew your or knew of you. He told me Mark Twain, although not a Catholic or much into religion really liked St. Joan of Arc. But you probably knew this! Happy Labor day
Wonderful, Peter. So relatable.
Thank you kindly, Frances. I haven't yet found a dog I didn't like!

Here is a Saint Francis blessing for our furry friends.
Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures.
You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air, and animals on the land.
You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters.
We ask you to bless this pet.
By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan.
May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation.
Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.
